Blending tradition with modern elegance, these lacquer chopsticks reinterpret the centuries-old craft of Wakasa lacquerware, a heritage art from Obama, Fukui Prefecture. Their surface pattern evokes the quiet mystery of the night sea—serene, deep, and softly radiant.

Inlaid with abalone shell and eggshell, the design captures the shimmering light of stars and moon reflected on dark water. The base is made from natural wood, offering a gentle warmth and a comfortable feel in the hand. Using the okoshi-moyo technique, layers of green, yellow, red, and gold lacquer are applied and carefully polished to reveal intricate depth. A final coat of raw lacquer brings out a subtle luster that shifts beautifully with the light.

The tips feature a slightly thicker lacquer finish, providing a secure grip, ideal for noodles or delicate foods. Available in two sizes and designs: 23.5 cm (9.3 in) with black accents and 22 cm (8.7 in) with vermilion accents. Dishwasher safe for easy, everyday use.

Each pair comes in a wooden gift box with a backing paper, a refined set that conveys luxury the moment it’s opened, perfect both for personal use and as a thoughtful gift.
