Cherry blossoms are striking in full bloom, yet each flower is quiet and fleeting. The Floating Sakura Matcha Bowl reflects that quality in an understated way, capturing the moment just as petals begin to fall. The scattered blossoms, set against open space, create a composed and restrained impression. It brings a subtle sense of Japanese beauty to everyday moments.

This katakuchi matcha bowl is crafted by Tosen Kiln, a longstanding Kyo ware kiln in Kyoto. Its refined clay body gives the surface a smooth, gentle feel, while the restrained, precise brushwork allows the cherry blossom motif to emerge naturally. The soft ground color enhances the blossoms, lending them a fresh, delicate presence. Subtle detailing brings the design to life, from the pale yellow stamens to the varied pink tones layered across each petal. The piece carries an appeal that goes beyond the visual, drawing the hand almost instinctively.

Created as an original for MUSUBI KILN, this bowl is available in two colorways: tokiiro pink and usuzumi gray. Tokiiro pink carries a soft, warm blush, while usuzumi gray introduces a calmer, more contemporary tone. The spacing between motif and blank surface is carefully considered, giving the composition a sense of ease. A cherry blossom pattern also appears on the interior, gradually revealed in use, adding a subtle layer of discovery. A slight indentation along the side becomes noticeable only when held, forming part of the tactile experience.

Sourced via Musubi Kiln from Japan's historic pottery towns - Kutani, Arita, Mino and beyond. Each piece is made and painted in Japan. Imported.
